Top Summer Wedding Guest Styling Tips by Fashion Creator Arlene Costello
After such a long period where we couldn't socialise, we have all been looking forward to this Summer and the many post-poned gatherings that we can finally attend. More than ever, it has been a Summer to really enjoy getting dressed up and to indulge a little in feeling glam again. If you are attending a late Summer wedding this year, we talked to Arlene Costello of @stylefamingos to get her top tips on finding the perfect wedding guest outfit this Summer.
Meet Arlene
Arlene is a full-time fashion, lifestyle and interior's creator and Mum to Isabelle. Having worked for almost a decade in the legal industry, Arlene set up @styleflamingos as her stylish creative outlet, after her little girl was born. Arlene inspires us with her signature feminine style and her love of florals and we have loved her wedding guest inspo posts this Summer. We've even spotted some familiar accessories from Lulu + Belle.
I actually don’t necessarily follow trends and opt more for classic styles. When it comes to dresses, I absolutely love florals and botanical prints. I always love a nice heel when dressing up too.
At the moment I absolutely love Coast occasion wear – they have such a wide range to suit everyone and the style and quality of their pieces is always so on point. I also love Lavish Alice and Karen Millen for occasions too!

I think ever since the pandemic every style goes for an Irish wedding. You could go ultra glam or dress up a dress that you would normally wear more casually and you would look equally fab! Don’t over think your outfit – just wear something you feel good in and most importantly comfortable in!
As a Fashion Creator I get asked this quite a lot – I personally would not choose mini for a wedding, I would much rather choose midi or maxi when it comes to dresses. I feel the midi/maxi length is so elegant. I am just under 5 4’ and get asked if being smaller it restricts you on dress length. I really don’t think so – as long as the dress fits right and you wear the right shoes it will work.

I don’t wear a lot of accessories – I like my dress to do the talking. So when it comes to jewellery I would usually go for something classic & understated. I adore my Mama necklace from the Lulu + Belle collection. Its such a fine timeless and special chain so it completes all of my dresses perfectly. I am also a little bit of a handbag lover so I love to theme my nude Prada bag with most of my looks!

Yes a few weeks ago I went to a friend’s wedding and I wore a gorgeous floral/nature print dress from Mint Velvet. I just fell in love with the print and the bonus was the style and majority viscose composition made it so comfortable. The material was so breathable, just perfect for a summer wedding. I noticed it is on sale now online for only €60 which is amazing given the quality of the dress.

Oh it has to me the Mama chain for me – I have it in the gold and complements all of the dresses in my wardrobe. Its my go to piece for my everyday outfits too so I get to wear it all of the time. As a Mammy of two girls it has a special meaning too.
